Our 365-ish Project: Snapshots from February

1. Celebrating MamaToo’s birthday at the Japanese Steakhouse.

2. Dinner and Equine Entertainment at Arabian Nights with the A Family.

3. We visited FBC@M this morning to watch the K kids get baptized. What an honor to share that special day with them! They are such a precious family to us! We gathered at their home with a bunch of friends and family afterward and then drove to Tampa for the girls’ violin lesson and Froyo. Was there a big football game on tonight? Oh, yeah, it was Super Bowl Sunday and Ray Lewis (a Lakelander) and the Ravens won! The B family opted for a Veggie Tales movie and Miss A hasn’t been able to put down the Knuffle Bunny book she checked out from the library this week (she’s turning into a GREAT reader!).

4. Miss A practicing “Etude” on her violin.

5. Dentist appointments tomorrow!  A flossing K's teeth in preparation.

6. Applied to renew the big girls’ passports! They're looking forward to traveling to Haiti! Here they are at the courthouse getting ready to turn in their old ones.  A's hairdo makes me smile--she worked hard in front of the mirror this morning getting it all just so--I think she was going for a skater chick bangs over the eye look.

The girls also had dentist cleanings/check-ups today—it was K’s first visit with Dr. Bopp (who, incidently, was my pediatric dentist and orthodontist as well). They all did great and NO CAVITIES!

7.  Funny Face.

8. After-school horseback ride.

9. Evening at Epcot!

10. K’s First Date. Her preschool’s Daddy-Daughter Dance. Post HERE.

11. Came home to the little girls driving their Mini Cooper around the driveway and patio while D pruned our crepe myrtles.

12. Auggie’s BIRTH-day. Our miracle baby! Post HERE.

13.  Cutie eating a cutie.

14. K sportin’ her hearts sweatshirt on Valentine’s Day!

Because D and I were going away for the weekend, we celebrated Valentine’s Day with our girls. I made a roast with onions, potatoes and carrots—had it cooking in the crock pot all day long. Whipped up a green bean casserole (the one D loves with mushroom soup and French fried onions) and some biscuits to accompany and finished off with strawberry shortcakes using the flat of strawberries our neighbors brought over a couple of nights ago.

15. D and I at our hotel after day 1 of the Empowered to Connect conference.  We combined the conference with our Valentine's getaway. We discovered Karyn Purvis through her book The Connected Child while preparing to bring K home a few years ago.  Her advice and techniques have been game-changers with respect to parenting our girls (all three of them!) and it was so good to have a refresher as we prepare to bring home our boys.  Something we want to try to do every year.

16. Home from ETC.  Re-"connecting" with my loves!

17. We had lunch at Panera with Mary, Greg and AC after church today. Loved catching up with them!  Here we are tonight.  Sunday night homemade pizza and a movie!

18. MNB and D racing bikes around the driveway.

19. ALMOST forgot pictures today. Remembered just in time to capture A’s good-night kiss!

20. D made a trip to Colorado to surprise Honey and spend a few days with her.

21. A few weeks ago, I received an email from the art teacher at our girls’ school saying “your child’s artwork has been selected for the ASCI Art Competition. As a special treat for these students, the art teacher was taking them on an all-day field trip to the Chiluly museum and a special art glass blowing demonstration.” Apparently, only a few children from the whole school were to receive this honor. It’s a pretty big deal. Well, I happen to have two little artists at the school, so of course my response to the email was “Great! That is very exciting! But WHICH of my children gets to do this?” Her response was that BOTH Miss M and Miss A had artwork selected. I was thrilled not only that they both were being recognized, but also that they would get to go on the field trip together. What a fun sister bonding memory. One of the moms that chaperoned the trip later complemented me on how sweet my girls were to each other, that Miss M had watched out for Miss A and how she even let Miss A lay on her lap to nap on the bus ride back to the school. She took a few pictures that she is supposed to send me. If she does, I’ll probably use one of those for my video.  In the meantime, I’ll use one from our sleepover with Pa!

Have I mentioned how blessed we are to have grandparents close by! Every week, one of the grandpas or grandmas watches the girls so D and I can have a date night. This has been happening since Miss M was a baby and has been wonderful for our marriage! Most weeks, one of the grandparents offers to host a sleepover which means an overnight date night for us! Golden! Overnight date nights and creativity the rest of the week are key to making co-sleeping a success ;) D was out of town this weekend so the date night didn’t happen, but the girls weren’t about to give up the sleepover they were planning at Pa’s house. . . I didn’t want to stay home by myself. . . so Chloe and I joined in the party and Pa hosted a slumber party for all us B girls! He was a great sport and we had a fun time!

22. Miss M played in the junior piano festival this morning. One excellent and two superiors!  Tonight we put on our matching pjs for our Mama-Daughter Date @ the Secret Keeper Girl pajama party tour!  A sweet and special evening with my 'tween!

23. We love our Sunday afternoon Froyo after violin lessons (note MN's new heels, A's boots and K's Buzz Lightyear glove)!

24. Mamatoo’s farm continues to grow! Horses, donkeys, chickens, ducks. . . and today, she picked up the girls from school and took them out to purchase some rabbits!

25. Miss A silliness.

26.  K and Daddy.

27. Little Cutie Patootie! Love that this sweet little outfit was worn by both M and A and now it fits K.

28. K found the Nemo costume in the dress-up box.
