The Daddy Daughter Dance

Sunday afternoon, D and Miss K attended a daddy-daughter dance benefitting K’s preschool. She was excited to be going on a special “Date with Dad” like she's seen her sisters do, getting to wear the new dress and frilly socks she picked out at Dillard’s last week, having her fingernails painted and, of course, dancing. The girl has some moves and loves to show them off!

I had so much fun helping her get ready. We came home from church/lunch and I made her bubble bath, washed and twisted her hair, lotioned up her skin and painted her fingers and toes. Precious mommy-daughter time. I got teary-eyed watching her admire herself in the mirror all dressed up with a flower in her hair. My beautiful daughter. Then my man came around the corner in his sport coat and pink tie (what he’ll do for his daughters!) and took my breath away, again. Wow! What a good-looking pair! How did I get so lucky to have them in my life?

Of course, I wanted pictures!  Some pink azaleas across the street caught my eye, so we walked over and had a little photo session in the neighbors’ yard.  Chloe had to get in on the pictures, too!  

At twenty ‘til four, I buckled my princess in her carseat, kissed my Prince Charming goodbye, and watched them pull out of the driveway in our royal coach (the silver minivan, haha).

A few hours later, the big girls and I walked out to the driveway to greet them when they arrived home. K was eager to show me her corsage and tell me all about the “Daughter Dance”. D had enjoyed meeting the other daddies and dancing with K—having her dance on his shoes during the slow dances and watching her break it down on the dance floor with her little friends during the fast ones.

 

They’d finished their date with ice cream at Baskin-Robbins.

K, I know you had so much fun on your first big date with Daddy!  I hope you have many more special dates together in the future!  You are so cherished! Daddy is so in love with you!
