Several months ago, we hired a private investigator to travel to K’s birthplace and search for more information about her life before Hannah’s Hope. The decision to do this was preceded by a lot of soul-searching and prayer. Ultimately, it came down to having answers for K. Her story began before we were a part of it, and where she comes from will always be a part of who she is. We know she'll have questions as she grows up, and we want to be able to tell her that we anticipated those questions would arise and that it was important to us to do our very best to find out more. We also know that if there is information to be found, it’s more likely to be uncovered now than 15 years from now. We believe we’ve found a sensitive and cautious searcher who will use care and diligence in the process. We are hopeful that, at a minimum, we might be able to fill in some of the gaps in her story. And we are prayerful that the results will be what is best for K and her birth family.
We did the same thing for Grace. The information that we received is truly PRICELESS. We now have an amazing dvd with so much information, family photos, interviews with relatives, etc. We were nervous to hire someone, but like you said, it was so much easier to gather information now than it will be in the future. We were beyond blessed to receive such precious information and were thrilled to be able to send photos of Grace, a letter to her birth family, and questions that we hoped they could answer for us. We have chosen not to share the information we received with anyone yet, but look forward to the day that Grace asks more questions about her birth family.
