We received our referral one year ago today. On our side of the world, there was a grand celebration. The child we were adopting suddenly had a name and a beautiful little face. And a story. On the other side of the world, the tiny baby girl we were matched with was experiencing sorrow and disruption. Those gorgeous eyes didn't show the pain she must have been feeling or her uncertainty about all that was happening. But though she didn't know it, she now had a family. We would soon be counting down the days to bring her home forever (please scroll down and pause (II) the background music before playing the video).
Someone at Hannah's Hope had just received a new camera. And with the rainy-season court closure in place, things were moving at a slower pace. Miss K became the subject of several photo shoots, complete with wardrobe and location changes. Instead of the usual 3 or 4 referral pictures, we received over 40. Here's a sample of what we were ooohing and ahhhing over:
