Colorful Conversation

Overheard:
Miss A to Miss K: When I was a baby, and I was brown, I used to drink out of a bottle, too.
Miss M to Miss A (very matter-of-factly): You weren't brown when you were a baby, A, you were pinkish peach.

Some time later. . .
Miss A runs into my room looking for a toy. She pauses at my dressing table, noticing a framed black-and-white baby picture. "Is that me?" she asks. I reply, "Yes, that's you when you were just a newborn. Weren't you adorable?!?" She runs off.

Overheard:
Miss A to Miss M (in her most sassafras tone): I was NOT pinkish peach when I was a baby. I was GRAY!!!
