3-2-1 Blastoff!
Some of Hus-B's fondest childhood memories are the occasional, surprise "Heck on it!" days planned by his parents. The whole family would wake up and go through their usual morning routine--eat breakfast, make beds, get dressed for school and work. Then, just as his mother was getting ready to load the boys in the car for school and his dad was grabbing his briefcase, his dad would say "Oh, heck on it!" and the boys--knowing that meant they were in for a fun family day trip--often fishing on the lake or a day in the mountains--would go wild with excitement. They would change into play clothes and set off on a fun family adventure.
Last Friday, after several weeks of long, stressful workdays, Hus-B and Pa said "Heck on it!", packed a cooler and took a day trip with the girls to Cape Canaveral to witness Space Shuttle Atlantis blast off on its final voyage. Here are a few pictures:

3-2-1 Blast Off!

Hus-B and Pa had a relaxing day off with the girls. Miss M and Miss A said the launch was "Awesome" and have been enjoying learning about space and following along with the astronauts' mission. We are praying for a safe voyage and look forward to hearing the sonic "boom" when the shuttle reenters our atmosphere next Wednesday morning!

How fun!
ReplyDeleteWe got to see a shuttle launch when I was a kid, and I still remember it.
As far as visiting goes-- that sounds amazing and sooo fun... but I think Disney will have to wait until next summer or the one after. :) But my brother lives in the Keys so you never know when we might make it to the Sunshine State. :)
Oh, I just love this! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling a "Heck on it" day coming on...GREAT IDEA Husband B! What wonderful memories for the girls! We might have to visit the Sunshine State ourselves!
ReplyDeleteSo fun, my bff growing up had a similar deal at their house. They were called Razoo's and I was always a tad jealous at them! Building really great memories!
ReplyDeleteCool idea and cool daddy and grandpa!
